Organizing Committee for Pacifichem 2015 Meets in Tokyo

The organizing committee for the 2015 International Chemical Congress of Pacific Basin Societies (Pacifichem 2015) met at the CSJ office building in Tokyo from June 2nd to June 6th. The five-day meeting was successfully conducted under the leadership of Chairman Peter J. Stang, Professor, University of Utah.

Pacifichem 2015 will be held in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, December 15-20, 2015. The conference is sponsored jointly by seven organizations: the Chemical Society of Japan (CSJ), the American Chemical Society (ACS), the Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC), the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry (NZIC), the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI), the Korean Chemical Society (KCS), and the Chinese Chemical Society (CCS).

Along with Steven Holdcroft, Professor, Simon Fraser University, and Eiichi Nakamura, Professor, the University of Tokyo as vice chairs, committee members representing each society as well as staff discussed several topics based on the meeting agenda. In the subcommittees also formed, attendees worked on reviews of symposium proposals, as well as topics such as finance, protocol, and future plans.

The Chemical Society of Japan has elected Hiroshi Kitagawa, Professor, Kyoto University, Kaoru Yamanouchi, Professor, the University of Tokyo, and Atsushi Takahara, Professor, Kyushu University, as committee members. They will attend committee meetings along with CSJ Executive Director Nobuyuki Kawashima.
