Directions for Preparation of Electronic Supporting Information

BCSJ is now further improving electronic Supporting Information to facilitate readability by making maximum use of the capacity of electronic information.

The service opens up new possibility of better understanding of authors' academic research with moving images of 3-D molecular architecture, sequences, voluminous experimental data, high-resolution graphical contents in color, and more.

Supporting Information is available on the Web, free of charge, with a click on the link of "Supporting Information" in the journal's Table of Contents.

Preparation of electronic Supporting Information

Note that authors must supply Supporting Information at the time of the first manuscript submission.
The Supporting Information should include experimental evidences necessary for supporting the submitted BCSJ manuscript data and will be used for the purpose of refereeing and deposition at the website.
When the Supporting Information is supplied, the authors are requested to state whether the materials can be published on the web or not. The authors may submit such data for refereeing purpose only. In this case, authors MUST add a note of caution in the upper margin of the submitted manuscript file as "Review Only/CONFIDENTIAL."

How to prepare Supporting Information

Authors are recommended to provide Supporting Information in the following file formats : PDF, DOC, XLS, CIF, PPT, clearly separated from those of the manuscript text and figures.
Other file formats for such as movie clips, 3-D structures are also acceptable on author's request. A list of preferable and acceptable file formats can be obtained from the Editorial Office. For hardcopy submission, authors will be requested to forward its electronic files to the Editorial Office upon acceptance.

A statement of the availability of Supporting Information should be placed before the References using the heading and format below:

Supporting Information: (Describe concisely what is in the material). This material is available free of charge on the web at: http://www.csj.jp/journals/bcsj/

It is suggested that authors upload the data of Supporting Information to server upon registration for new submission on the Web. Whenever any trouble or question arises, the Editorial Office should be contacted in advance.
