49th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO)

CSJ is proud to announce that four Japanese high school students will bring home one gold medal and three silver medals from the 49th International Chemistry Olympiad held at Nakhon Pathom, Thailand. The four Japanese representatives have competed with 297 students from 76 countries for gold, silver and bronze medals from 6 July to 15 July. The number of participants and countries was the largest ever. The competition was composed of one theoretical exam and one practical exam, both of which were to be solved in five hours. During the 10 day stay at Nakhon Pathom, they built friendship through social events and excursions, and experienced the culture and society of Thailand.

The Japanese team's results are as follows;

Gold medal : Keiya Sakabe (Kaiyo Academy)
Silver medal: Yuuki Amabe (Nada High School)
Silver medal: Shuku Morita (Okayama Asahi High School)
Silver medal: Kensei Yagiu (Okazaki High School)
