We have also been working to realize white light emission by combining fluorescent compounds, and to develop sensing technology for heavy metals and low-molecular-weight organic compounds by utilizing changes in light emission phenomena caused by external stimuli. As a result, 1)we succeeded in synthesizing more than 2)70 kinds of thiazoles by making full use of the reactions that had been identified at the 3)application stage and the newly developed method of introducing substituents to unsubstituted thiazoles using a transition metal complex catalyst.

Easy Mistakes Explained: Word Choice
We have also been working to realize white light emission by combining fluorescent compounds, and to develop sensing technology for heavy metals and low-molecular-weight organic compounds by utilizing changes in light emission phenomena caused by external stimuli. As a result, 1)we succeeded in synthesizing more than 2)70 kinds of thiazoles by making full use of the reactions that had been identified at the 3)application stage and the newly developed method of introducing substituents to unsubstituted thiazoles using a transition metal complex catalyst.
Using the sentence above as an example, we will explain some mistakes commonly made when writing chemistry papers.
Underline 1)
This is a minor point, but we synthesised is more concise than we succeeded in synthesising. In this sentence, the presence or absence of succeeded in does not affect the meaning.
Underline 2)
Kind has various meanings, so this is a bit confusing. Using different instead clarifies that 70 different azoles are being used.
Underline 3)
Application is being used to mean request or petition, but it can also mean use or implementation so here it is a bit confusing. Rather than application stage, using time of application clarifies the meaning.
Let's rewrite the sentence.
As a result, we synthesised more than 70 different thiazoles by making full use of the reactions identified at the time of (grant) application and the newly developed method of introducing substituents to unsubstituted thiazoles using a transition metal catalyst.
We look forward to seeing you next time.
